The STO is working overtime in the background to make everything appear simple. When early throttle openings drove the vehicle outside of our desired line in tighter bends, we could feel its limited-slip differential and rear-wheel steering working to fight understeer. Although the V-10 lacks the low-down torque of a current turbocharged engine, it does have a more linear power curve, which assists when pushing the car to the brink of adhesion in longer bends. Even with the stability control turned on, the Trofeo driving style allows for some oversteer, although even this is more readily handled than it should be in a vehicle with so much power and just two driven wheels.

Previous Lambos have shown to be lightning fast on a variety of race tracks. Consider the Huracán Performante and Aventador SVJ, which both established production vehicle lap records at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The Huracán STO, or Super Trofeo Omologata, is the first Lamborghini created specifically for track usage, and is essentially a homologated version of the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo and GT3 Evo race cars.
Other significant changes pertain to the STO’s vital ground and air partnerships. The first is the installation of model-specific Bridgestone Potenza tires in two track-oriented versions, the most aggressive of which is essentially a slick with a few grooves carved in it. The other is a massive rear wing that can be manually changed between three settings, replacing the active aerodynamics of the ordinary Huracán. At 174 mph, the most aggressive of them creates 925 pounds of downforce when combined with the front splitter and large underfloor diffuser.
